Took it apart and found a 37" (slightly kinked) spring. Reinsert the spring and got only 6 Federal Classic 00. Checked my JM Pro spring, and it is the same spring - 37"! For a 9 rd, much longer tube. Mossberg CS was helpful, but not well informed. They sent a new spring, so we'll see.

Every upgrade that I know of addresses the little nit picky stuff of the 930 and I would jump on getting a tactical version if they came out with one. Bigger bolt release, colored follower, and the new gas piston that reduces fouling and buildup pretty much sums up almost everything that I would want in a shotty besides the 24" barrel.

So if you like to tinker and have some mechanical skills, the 940 MIGHT be a good choice, but if you want reliability from the start, unfortunately would. recommend a 1301 or a recoil operated SG such as Benelli or Stoeger. Sad that Mossberg could not work out the bugs in the 940. Mark.
